La musique d'Ibrahim Maalouf échappe à toute classification. Bien sûr, on y retrouve, brassés à l'intérieur, des vrais morceaux de musiques orientales, des saveurs électroniques, du zeste de hip-hop ou le fruit d'improvisations assez jazzy, mais l'ensemble est le juste reflet d'une forte personnalité qui se moque des frontières et se méfie des écoles. Comme le chant de sa trompette, son inspiration est libre et sa souplesse de jeu lui permet de faire de grands écarts sans craindre la luxation, d'accélérer dans les virages sans redouter les dérapages. Son secret tient sans doute dans sa capacité à affronter ses contradictions, à refuser de donner plus d'importance à un côté ou à l'autre des deux mondes qui le constituent. L'Orient et l'Occident agissent en lui comme les deux hémisphères d'un même cerveau, les deux moitiés d'un seul coeur. Si la construction de son nouvel album, Diachronism, souligne les différences qui cohabitent en lui, en séparant l'ensemble en un duo de cds baptisés Disoriental et Paradoxidental, on sent la continuité du souffle qui le traverse de part en part. Alors que les percussions méditerranéennes et les déflagrations électroniques bâtissent des paysages où la mythologie antique se confond avec des intuitions du futur, la trompette entraîne les troupes vers la lumière. Elle est de tous les combats, soliste, rythmique, mélodique, aquatique ou aérien, elle provoque les invités dans des joutes où chacun sort gagnant. Le oud d’Adnan Joubran, le saz de Bijan Chemirani ou le piano de Jacky Terrasson trouvent un interlocuteur de rêve, attentif et agile. Tout du long, les voix ponctuent l’histoire : les choeurs tragiques ou joyeux, la foule qui reprend les notes que l'artiste vient de lui apprendre, le chant haut perché de Matthieu Chédid, venu en vieux complice souligner la bizarrerie de la vie, ou le flow de Lolibob, faux rapper Westcoast, habilement incarné par Maalouf lui–même. Il y a, dans la musique d’Ibrahim Maalouf, des souvenirs de rires et de larmes, des traces de guerre et de paix, la présence de la nostalgie et de l’euphorie, mais toujours jaillit la promesse de la vie.

وسام حاليا في فرنسا فبعد ان فرغ من مشاركته في احد المهرجانات هاهو يتاهب لعرض عود من صنعه في متحف اللوفر وهو مصنع من انذر انواع الخشب واقدمها, ومرصع بالعاج .. محفور عليه كلمات للشاعر الفلسطيني محمود درويش " على هده الارض ما يستحق الحياة " لكن الفلسطيني يمتلك مقومات الصمود وهو يدافع عن كرامته ليستحق الحياة بينما نحن خارج دائرة التحكم ونراود سياسة ليس فيها موضع العينين حتى يتسنى لنا وصفها بالعمياء على الاقل

Samir was born in Nazareth, in 1973, in the Galilee. At five, his father introduces him to the oud. The encounter between boy and instrument is more like the passionate encounter of two lovers. At nine, Samir enters the Nazareth Institute of Music. In 1995 he graduates from the highly prestigious Muhammad Abdul Wahhab Conservatory of Cairo. His musical talents are recognized in the musical workshops and seminars he attends in various arabic and European countries, leading him to teach the oud in a large number of schools and institutes.
The Joubran family adventure begins with Samir, an innovative soloist. Their first album, Taqaseem, comes out in 1996, followed by Sou'fahm in 2001. His first album under the Daqui label (the label of the Atypical Nights in Langon), Tamaas, appears in 2002. His run of performances in European and Middle Eastern venues begins. At the time, Samir is the only Palestinian performing outside the borders of his country. He is also the first musician to be awarded, in 2003-2004, a two-year scholarship to Italy through the Writer's Asylum Program which is organized by the International Parliament of Writers.
His musical virtuosity receives universal acclaim, and he is quickly invited to play with numerous other artists, in particular with great poets of the likes of Mahmoud Darwish. Music allies itself with the spoken word to bring to life poetry where melancholy and passion are inextricably mixed.
Samir Joubran's musical talent is acknowledged by the movie world when he composes the original sound track for Rashir Masharawi's Ticket to Jerusalem. He is then contacted by director François Dupeyron. Three tracks from the album Tamaas are included in the sound track of Inguélézi. Three titles from Randana are used in Parvez Sharmas' documentary A jihad for love (coming out this year).
After Randana, the first album to bring together all three Joubran brothers, their new opus, Majâz, will come out this fall. With Palesine beating in his heart, driven by his desire to give voice to his oud, Samir Joubran will travel the world with his brothers.

الثلاثي جبران : يعانق بدموعه شجن العود

عندما تتفجر أنهار دموعنا المختبئة خلف قناع مقاومة الرضوخ، لجراحات الحياة، تشتاق دموعنا إلى لحن وتري، يجيش عما بخاطرنا من أحزان خرابات مدمرة. وعلى ألحان وتر نغفو، نحلم بأن هناك من سيحمل العصا السحرية، حتى ولو بالأحلام، ويجعلنا نحلم مثل البقية. هل نحاكم على أحلامنا؟ لست أدري ... و لكن في الواقع ما يترجم الرد تضاريس الوجه الفلسطينية، دونت من خلال إيحاءاتها الألم المستمر والوجع الدامي، الذي عبر عنه اللحن الناطق في المعزوفات
أحب سمير جبران أن يعبر عن مكنونات تتفجر في داخله، جبران ممنوع من الكلام، ولا يسمح له باستخدام لغة الإشارة التي قد تدينه كإرهابي، إذا فكر أن يشير بإيماءاته إلى قضيته .فيذهب راكضا إلى حيث العزف الملتحم مع الوجع الفلسطيني. بحث سمير عن الوطن والحب و العطاء المسلوب منه، فوجد نفسه يحتضن العود ليعبر عن ثورة غضبه على كل ما يعترضه كونه فلسطيني من عرب الداخل
صمت خلفه أعاصير من التمرد، على واقع يعاني من الدمار، وبانفعالات غاضبة، ورافضة ومستنكرة للمعاناة بأكملها .أحسن العود في ترجمة أوجاع وسام جبران الذي أغدق الكثير من مشاعره على عوده خلال تغريد ألحانه الوترية الوردية .. تساقط اللؤلؤ من عيني عدنان جبران الأخ الأصغر سنا الذي باح بكل أسراره لعوده الصديق. يطل العناد من أحداق عدنان، لكنه يرسم ذلك العناد لكل من حوله بمقطوعات موسيقية هي الأجمل من شاب في مثل عمرة مازال يعانق الطفولة الفلسطينية
باقة المشاهد سافرت .. فوجدوا أنفسهم شخصيات المشهد.. وعبر ذلك عن تقارب المفاهيم والأوجاع و الجراح والألم في عائلة فردية مصغرة هي عائلة جبران التي جسدت ببساطة أحلام الأسرة الفلسطينية وأوجاعها الحياتية والاحتلالية
