Note :
This encounter between a voice, a text and a composition takes root in the desire of the singer, Fadia El-Hage, to give body, scenically and musically, to a unique voice - simultaneously role, figure and experience. Joëlle Khoury’s music will guide this voice bringing out its shades, its sinuous clashes and contours, its tensions, its contradictions, through the writings of a poet. Although Joëlle Khoury’s use of this poetry calls for an interpretation, it is already one. The poetry of Jacques Aswad provided Joëlle Khoury with a lingual material in a similar way as the musical material engaged in the compositional process. It is by sometimes going against the grain of the text that she best restituted the “text effect” as well as its meaning. Joëlle Khoury’s compositional relationship to the musical language she “uses” better translates her interpretation or “reading” of this poetry
