عائلتها تعود جذورها الى اليهود الذين طُردوا مع المسلمين من اسبانيا (الاندلس) عام 1492 مع استعادة المسيحيين للسيطرة هناك واتهمت بقلب اللادينو الى الطابع الشرقي العربي وخاصة المغربي الاندلسي ... نشأت على الموسيقى العربية، على ام كلثوم وعبد الوهاب وفريد الاطرش وتعشق فريد وتمنت ان تغني "الربيع"، لكنها اعترفت بعجزها امام فريد الاطرش واعتبرته عملاق وليست بحجمه
عن حرب لبنان الاخيرة تقول: ء
في حرب لبنان كان اصعب يوم علي عندما قصف الجيش الاسرائيلي بيت الايتام. هذا حطمني. كنت عندها في فرنسا. الوضع دقيق جدا. اعتليت المنصة، وكانت هتافات ضدي من الجمهور. قبل ان اغني توجهت للجمهور وقلت له، انا حزينة اكثر منكم، افهم ألمكم، ولكني اتألم اكثر منكم. فانا التي تعيش في اسرائيل، فلسطين. انا التي تعيش هذا الموت. فهدأت الاجواء. ثم قلت وصلنا الى هنا اليوم، دعونا نفعل شيئا خيّرا، ليعطي كل منا للآخر. لي موسيقى، اذا لم تريدوا ان تأخذوها سأحترم قراركم، ولكنكم وصلتم فتعالوا نتعانق .... ء

Born in Jerusalem in 1975, Yasmin Levy was introduced to Ladino singing and culture from a very young age. Her father was the leading figure in the world of research into and preservation of the Judeo-Spanish culture, dating back to the 15th century in Spain. Today, it remains one of the most moving and romantic musical traditions of all times.
In her deep, spiritual and moving style of singing, Yasmin preserves and revives the most beautiful songs from the Ladino/Judeo-Spanish heritage, mixing it with Andalucian Flamenco.
Yasmin’s debut album “Romance & Yasmin” created a stir amongst world music lovers across the globe. Her more recent album “La Juderia”, featuring Ladino and Flamenco music in her unique emotive style confirmed her status as one of the most promising new artists on the World Music scene....
